This is a great little gem of a game. I wish I could give it 6 stars. The game has a great atmosphere and it can be quite tense when you lose a pilot. You really get attached to your pilots after a while and it makes you try your hardest to keep them alive. I never write reviews for games, but this is easily one of the best mobile games I’ve ever played. It's definitely one of the best games out there. The dog that greets you at the end of each mission is just an extra touch to show how much love and care was put into making this game.
Wings of Heroes puts you in charge of a small training airfield for recruits who will need to be prepared for an upcoming battle with enemy forces. However, things don't always go as planned and your airfield may be called upon to participate in military operations. The game features mission-based gameplay with an enthralling plot and challenging dogfight action.
As you progress through the game, your pilots' rank will increase and they will learn new abilities. You can also use your pilot's "dexterity" to slow down time and react faster to unexpected events. In addition, you can perform rolls and Immelmann maneuvers to avoid enemy attacks and get the upper hand in battles. You can also switch control to any of your wingmen at any time and keep or break formation when you are the team leader.
In between missions, you can land at your airfield to refuel, repair, and reload your aircraft. There are over 15 different types of enemies to face, including soldiers, tanks, battleships, and more. The game also features realistic weather conditions and different times of day to fly in. You can choose from two gameplay views and use the "zoom out" button to see the entire game field at once.
Wings of Heroes is not a "pay to win" game and the in-app purchases are only there to support the developers. They are not necessary to finish missions and continue playing, but some practice may be needed. The game also has no ads, as it was built with passion for passionate gamers to enjoy. It also includes detailed statistics for each pilot, realistic sound effects, and an engaging soundtrack. Game Center integration allows for achievements and leaderboards to compete with other players.
