More About Lookout - Assisted vision

Lookout uses computer vision and generative AI to assist people with low vision or blindness in getting things done faster and more easily. Using your phone's camera, Lookout makes it easier to get more information about the world around you and do daily tasks more efficiently like reading text & documents, sorting mail, putting away groceries, and more.

Built in collaboration with the blind and low-vision community, Lookout is an application that supports Google's mission to make the world's information accessible to everyone. It offers seven different modes to assist users in various tasks. The first mode, Text, allows users to scan text and have it read aloud. This is useful for tasks such as sorting mail or reading signs. The second mode, Documents, allows users to capture a whole page of text or handwriting. It is available in over 30 languages. Explore mode helps users identify objects, people, and text in their surroundings. Currency mode is specifically designed to identify banknotes, with support for US Dollars, Euros, and Indian Rupees. Food labels mode can identify packaged foods by their label or barcodes and is available in over 20 countries. Find mode is useful for locating objects in the user's surroundings, such as doors, bathrooms, and vehicles. It can also provide information on the direction and distance to the object, depending on the device's capabilities. Images mode allows users to capture, describe, and ask questions about an image. However, this feature is currently only available in English. Lookout is available in more than 30 languages and can run on devices with Android 6 and above. It is recommended to have at least 2GB of RAM on the device. Users can learn more about Lookout in the Help Center, which can be accessed through the link provided.
