This application provides a free US phone number that allows your friends to call and text you. You can choose the area code for your number. It also offers free texting to any US or Canadian mobile number, as well as free inbound phone calls. Additionally, you can make toll-free calls from anywhere in the world with no restrictions. Outbound phone calls are also available at a low cost. The app works well over WiFi, so you don't need a 3G or 4G connection. There are no contracts or surprise costs associated with using this app.
The app works differently from other app-to-app messengers because it allows you to call and text any phone number, not just other users of the app. It also works across all your devices, so you'll never miss a message. As long as you have WiFi, you can use the app without a 3G or 4G connection.
The app is able to offer these services for free because your friend's phone company charges small fees to deliver texts and calls on their networks. Instead of passing these fees onto you, the app displays banner ads or short videos. However, you can choose to pay a small fee to remove these ads if you prefer. The app also offers subscription options for additional features, such as keeping your number for a year or making unlimited ad-free calls to Mexico or the US and Canada.
If you choose to subscribe to a plan, you will be charged a price according to the plan selected in your country. The price will be shown in the app before you complete the payment. The subscription will automatically renew unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of your current period. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal in your iTunes Account Settings. Please note that you cannot cancel your subscription during an active subscription period.
It's important to note that this app does not support 911 in the US. In order to make most outbound phone calls, you will need to purchase credits within the app. If push notifications are not enabled, you may not receive messages and calls. The app's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy can be found on their website. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription to the app.
