SimpleX Chat - a private & encrypted open-source messenger without any user IDs (not even random ones)!
To use SimpleX, you can either make a private connection through a link or QR code. This messaging network is unique because it does not require any user identifiers, making it 100% private. A security assessment by Trail of Bits has been conducted and can be found on their website. SimpleX offers a variety of features such as quantum resistant end-to-end encryption, disappearing messages, message reactions, and delivery receipts. It also has multiple chat profiles, incognito mode, and the ability to send end-to-end encrypted images, files, and voice messages.
One of the main advantages of SimpleX is the privacy it provides. Unlike other messaging platforms, it does not use phone numbers or any other identifiers, even random ones. This means that your identity, profile, contacts, and metadata are all protected from SimpleX servers and any observers. It also offers complete protection against spam and abuse, as you can only be contacted if you share a one-time invitation link or temporary user address.
SimpleX also prioritizes the ownership, control, and security of your data. All user data is stored on client devices, and messages are only temporarily held on relay servers until they are received. It also offers a decentralized proxied peer-to-peer network, allowing you to use your own relay servers and still communicate with others using SimpleX relay servers. Additionally, the code for SimpleX is fully open-source.
To connect with others on SimpleX, you can simply share a link or scan a QR code. Your profile and contacts are only stored on your device, and relay servers do not have access to this information. All messages are end-to-end encrypted using a quantum resistant double-ratchet protocol and are delivered through relay servers using the SimpleX Messaging Protocol.

SimpleX Chat advantages:
- privacy of your identity, profile, contacts and metadata: unlike any other existing messaging platform, SimpleX uses no phone numbers or any other identifiers assigned to the users - not even random numbers. This protects the privacy of who you are communicating with, hiding it from SimpleX platform servers and from any observers.
- complete protection against spam and abuse: as you have no identifier on SimpleX platform, you cannot be contacted unless you share a one-time invitation link or an optional temporary user address.
- full ownership, control and security of your data: SimpleX stores all user data on client devices, the messages are only held temporarily on SimpleX relay servers until they are received.
- decentralized proxied peer-to-peer network: you can use SimpleX Chat via your own relay servers and still communicate with people using pre-configured or any other SimpleX relay servers.
- fully open-source code.
You can connect to anybody you know via link or scan QR code (in the video call or in person) and start sending messages instantly - no emails, phone numbers or passwords needed.
Your profile and contacts are only stored in the app on your device - relay servers do not have access to this information.
All messages are end-to-end encrypted using open-source quantum resistant double-ratchet protocol; the messages are delivered via relay servers using open-source SimpleX Messaging Protocol.
