The Amazon Shopper Panel app makes earning rewards simple. Users can upload eligible paper receipts by taking pictures of them or by forwarding email receipts to a designated email address. Each month, participants can earn up to $10, which can be added to their Amazon Balance or used as a donation to charity. In addition to receipt uploads, users can earn extra rewards by completing surveys or enabling ad verification features within the app. However, availability is limited, and users may only be eligible for certain parts of the program, which they can verify through the app’s tabs for Receipts, Surveys, and Ads.
Participation in the Amazon Shopper Panel is completely voluntary, allowing users to stop sharing receipts, answering surveys, or enabling ad verification at any time. Amazon only receives the information that users explicitly choose to share, such as details from uploaded receipts, survey responses, or the ads they view. This emphasizes the app’s focus on user control over their data and privacy while contributing to the program.
If users choose to enable ad verification, the app employs Android’s VpnService to establish a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. Importantly, this setup does not involve installing a VPN on the device; instead, it uses VPN permissions to create an Amazon DNS connection. This setup enables Amazon to gather information about the ads seen by the user, including ads from third-party advertisers. Users have the option to opt out of ad verification at any time, and the DNS setup is not necessary to access other features of the Shopper Panel.
The Amazon Shopper Panel is only available to a select group of eligible Amazon customers in the U.S. If invited, customers can download the app to participate. Those who did not receive an invitation can join a waitlist and will receive an email notification when space becomes available. By using the app, users agree to Amazon’s Conditions of Use, the Shopper Panel’s Terms and Conditions, and the Privacy Notice. Users also have options to delete their Shopper Panel data or opt out of the program through the app or by submitting a request to close their Amazon account entirely, which would cancel access to all associated products and services.
