Formerly AnyConnect

The Cisco Secure Client is an application that allows users to securely connect to their corporate network from their Android devices. It is compatible with Android 4.X and above. However, there are some known issues with the application, such as occasional freezes on the Diagnostics screen and the lack of Split DNS on Android 7.x/8.x due to operating system limitations.

There are also some limitations to the features available in this package, including Filter Support, Trusted Network Detection, Split Exclude, Local LAN Exception, and access to the Secure Gateway Web Portal when tunneled. Despite these limitations, the Cisco Secure Client still provides reliable and easy-to-deploy encrypted network connectivity for users on the go.

The Cisco Umbrella module for Cisco Secure Client on Android offers DNS-layer protection for devices running Android v6.0.1 and above. This feature can be enabled with or without a Cisco Secure Client license. However, the software is only licensed for use by Cisco headend customers with active Plus, Apex, or VPN Only licenses. Use with non-Cisco equipment or software is prohibited.

The application offers a wide range of features, including automatic adaptation of VPN tunneling based on network constraints, support for various authentication options, and the ability to access internal IPv4/IPv6 network resources. It also has a network roaming capability that allows for seamless connectivity even after an IP address change, loss of connectivity, or device standby. Additionally, the application supports DNS security with the Umbrella module.

If users encounter any issues or concerns, they can contact their organization's support department. System Administrators can also reach out to their designated support point of contact for assistance with configuring or utilizing the application. Users can also provide feedback to Cisco by sending a log bundle through the application's "Menu > Diagnostics > Send Logs" feature. However, it is recommended to read the Known Issues section before sending feedback.

For more information on the application, users can refer to the Release Notes and documentation provided by Cisco. There is also a beta version of the Cisco Secure Client available for testing, but it is not supported by TAC. Any issues with the beta version can be reported to ac-mobile-feedback@cisco.com.

LICENSING AND INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS:

This software is licensed for exclusive use by Cisco headend customers with active Plus, Apex or VPN Only licenses (term or perpetual with active SASU contracts). Use is no longer permitted with Essentials/Premium with Mobile license. Cisco Secure Client use with non-Cisco equipment/software is prohibited.

Cisco Secure Client for Android requires Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Boot image 8.0(4) or later. For licensing questions and evaluation licenses, please contact ac-temp-license-request (AT) cisco.com and include a copy of "show version" from your Cisco ASA.
